Are theater seats worth getting over the couch? | My Grand RV

We have had our RB for a couple years now, and the sofa/bed came in handy a couple times for others to sleep on. But it's really not that comfortable for eating or watching TV. So are the GD theater seats worth swapping out for the sofa? Do they recline? Are they comfortable for eating? Is there a table or pull-out tray with them to eat on? I assume these seats have no way to convert to a bed.

If we like theater seats better, is there a market out there for people to swap couch for theater seats?

Thanks! We went a totally different route. We had two of the theatre seat/recliners and to us, they were not comfortable at all, unless you are maybe 5'8 or 5'9" tall...max. So in place of the theatre seats, we bought a loveseat....no power anything and it is just a loveseat...no reclining and very comfortable....

On the other side of the living room, there was the "L" shaped sofa with two recliners....heated/vibrate massage/lighted......and sold that stuff too. This is what we replaced that with.....

How was it getting the loveseat in the door? I have the dreaded peeling issue on my theater seats and have not settled on a fix. This has appeal. Mind sharing brand of loveseat?

The loveseat was no issue coming through the door into the camper....but our doors are right at 30" wide. Here is a link to the Loveseat that we got from Wayfair. It looks like they are out of stock at the present time....and the pricing has gone up since we purchased ours last Sept. I looked up our receipt and it was $579 plus shipping, etc.

Since there was no really good way to anchor the loveseat to the floor, as is just has 4 legs and not a frame under it like the theatre seating did, I bought two 4" ABS pipe end caps and screwed them to the floor of the slide (short enough screws so that it didn't scratch anything when putting the slide in or out), and since they are Black, you really don't notice them. The rear legs of the sofa sit inside the ABS end caps and the sofa has never moved when travelling . Hope this helps. Oh, the loveseat is a dark blue color. I can only tell you what I found out about the 78" sofa / theater seats in my 260RD. Surprisingly he theater seats are comfy and I often doze off, especially later in the evening, watching TV. They are adjustable, have heat which is nice in cooler months and massage which I'm not a fan on. Because of the length @ 78" this make quite a nice sofa. I've fallen off for hours with a pillow under my head while laying prone across it. In other words it's a double threat. Now the downside, The material covering the Thomas Payne furniture is not very good or durable. It has begun to wear at the seams of the armrest of the one recliner I use most often. I see more wear in the footrest bolsters too. Although unsightly I leave the plastic covers on them as long as you could. I managed to catch one on the side and started a tear so I removed it completely and now seeing wear. Also this material is akin to vinyl so in warm or humid environments it makes you sweat and gets sticky even uncomfortable.
So people have been replacing the seating with third-party recliners? I didn't even think of that. I thought you had to use the brand that would fit into that space... not sure, Lippert?

We had ordered 2 recliners instead of the small theater seat in our Reflection . (I don't think they let you do that any more) After 4 years the great peel began. We replaced those with a real leather ele reclining loveseat with removable back. It just fit in the door with the hutch being across from the door.

Be sure to have measurements of length and width. Also the space to get it in the door.
Needing to now replace the peeling couch it won't be as easy to get inside unless it breaks down into smaller pieces. This could make the choices more limited

OK, so you must have got naugahyde then. I think the seats that come with the GD trailers are real leather, no?

PMadness is correct, there is nothing real about the leather..they call it "bonded leather" when yours starts peeling (it will eventually) you will see how thie material that is peeling is nothing like leather. It doesn't matter which model you get, it is all bonded junk.

I have seen some stuff referred to as “Genuine Leather” when it is actually bonded leather. If it doesn’t say “Full Grain Leather” it is probably one of the cheaper products.

Bonded leather is just shredded leather that is glued to a cloth backing. Not a very good product from what I have seen.

On the Imagine we will be picking up this weekend the dealer said GD is no longer using “Pleather”, they are now using a more durable product, time will tell.

Back on Topic; On our current RV we removed the couch because it was about the most uncomfortable seat I ever sat on. We bought a dual theater seat from Amazon that came in pieces so it went in easily then was assembled in place. It is a standard seat height so sitting on the floor of the slide out the seat is about 4 inches higher than normal but that is not a problem because we always put the footrest up anyway and having it sit higher makes it easier to get up from for this old fart.

Commercial Cinema Seats: Recommendations - Seatment™

Hello! One of the most important issues for cinema owners and managers is to choose comfortable and durable cinema seats. Commercial cinema seats play a critical role for the satisfaction of your customers and the success of your theatre. I work at Seatment and with years of experience I would like to give you some advice on this subject. I am also proud to mention that we export to more than 60 countries with our wide product portfolio.

Seat Selection: Which Material Should You Prefer?

When choosing a cinema seat, the material the seat is made of is very important. My opinion is that if you want the seats to be long-lasting, you should choose durable materials. Folding cinema chair models are generally more flexible and allow you to use the space efficiently. Also, when deciding between fabric and leather options, you should consider the ease of cleaning and maintenance. Which one would you prefer?

Comfort and Durability: Striking the Right Balance

The success of a cinema hall depends largely on the comfort of the customers. Fixed cinema chair models can be used for many years with their robust structures. I think of myself as a spectator and I look at it that way: I want to feel comfortable while sitting. Therefore, the seats should be not only aesthetically but also ergonomically suitable. Remember, a comfortable customer stays longer and comes back.

So, is durability or comfort more important? It is best to balance between the two. When choosing among cinema seat models and types, you should consider both factors.

Cost and Budget: Which Factors Affect?

Budget is also an important factor when buying commercial cinema seats. Cinema seat prices can be quite variable, so it is useful to make a budget planning in advance. My advice is that if you want to make a profit in the long run, you should invest in quality seats. Although this may seem costly at first, it will actually be more economical thanks to long-lasting use.

Buying Guide: Which Features Should You Pay Attention To?

There are several important features you should pay attention to when buying a cinema seat. When choosing between cinema seats, you should consider factors such as the size, spacing and ease of use of the seats. Proper placement of the seats, especially in terms of cinema seating arrangement, allows the audience to move comfortably. To increase the capacity of a hall, you should create a comfortable seating arrangement instead of placing the seats too often. Do you think wider spaced seats or more seats are more important?

Different Types of Seats: Which Models Are Right for You?

Commercial cinema seats include many different models. With VIP cinema seats, you can add a luxurious feel to your theatre and generate higher revenue. There are also more economical options, such as cinema seating chairs. In my opinion, it would be best to choose a seat that suits the general concept of your theatre and your target audience.

After all, the choice of cinema seats directly affects the overall atmosphere of your theatre and customer satisfaction. As Seatment, we are always at your side with our wide range of products and quality service understanding. You can contact us for more information about cinema seating and our product options.

Importance and Future of Cinema Seats

Finally, cinema seats are not just a place to sit, but also an important part of the customer experience. As a cinema seat manufacturer, we strive to offer the highest quality and comfortable products to our valued customers. My advice is to think long-term when choosing your seat and prioritise customer satisfaction.
